The event had to take place in the UK, and since it was attended by guests from around the country it needed to be easily accessible. Another important feature was the opportunity for guests to network with colleagues and contacts from across the industry during the event.
After an extensive search of venue options, we settled on the iconic Cutty Sark the world’s sole surviving tea clipper and fastest ship of her time – now an award-winning visitor attraction in Greenwich, London.
This legendary 19th-century sailing ship has been raised over three meters allowing our guests the jaw-dropping experience of dining directly underneath the hull which dates back to 1869.
We sourced hotel accommodation at the nearby Doubletree London Docklands and we transferred our guests by river boat so that they could enjoy a pre-dinner reception, combined spectacular views of the London skyline en-route to the Cutty Sark itself.
Prior to the event, we spent time with the client planning the show, creating video and graphics content for presentation and designing the branding, collateral and décor for the event. We liaised with the venue, caterers and our AV team designed the room layout and planned the necessary infrastructure to support the awards programme.
Dinner was served right under the hull of the ship and AV infrastructure installed along one side of the dry dock for the awards show.
We created a series of short video programmes which were shown during the evening – some historical & informative about Cutty Sark and others rather more humourous to engage with the audience and enhance the sense of occasion.
Our team coordinated the whole evening, working closely with the client, the venue & catering team and Laura London to keep the whole evening flowing smoothly and according to time.
An outstanding evening, with many plaudits from the guests to our client together with firm commitments to attend and participate at future events. The client was delighted with our level of support, practical advice & guidance and our relaxed, professional management of the whole project. We’ve already embarked on our next challenge – how to make next year’s show even better.
