Global Incentive Programme

The Brief

We were asked to create another once-in-a-lifetime reward experience to reward our client’s top sales performers.  Our challenge is always to remain consistent with the standard of previous incentive events we’ve delivered for this client and this time we had to create a programme that would follow on the previous year’s trip to Maui, Hawaii, so expectations and goals were high.

We had similar factors to take into consideration i.e. 50 winners plus the partner of their choice equaling 100 people in total. They would be traveling from all four corners of the globe to meet in one chosen location, where they would experience the destination in the form of a luxury, well balanced programme combining Networking opportunities, Regional Sales Meetings, a Black Tie Awards Dinner plus activities and options that would give everyone a truly unique experience.

Our Solution

We were asked to focus on Europe, so after brainstorming with our team and with the client, we settled on the “Eternal City” of Rome as the chosen destination for the programme due to its accessibility and its wealth of culture, history and prestige.

Following a site inspection and much discussion, the luxurious 5 star St Regis Hotel was agreed upon, and a luxurious 5 star programme was created to complement the property.

From the moment guests landed in Rome they were met by a VIP meet and greet service and transferred to the hotel by private executive limousines.

The first evening was all about networking, meeting old and new work colleagues and their partners.  This was set in the environment of a champagne drinks reception and buffet dinner in a private Salon at the St Regis hotel.

The following day was appointed to business, an opportunity for the Directors to spend valuable time with their top sales performers which was followed later that afternoon, with the first unique and exclusive activity of the programme.

Guests were invited to tour the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel exclusively after public opening hours had ended, after which, they were taken to a traditional Italian Taverna to let their hair down and embrace all that they had seen and done so far.

As the programme unfolded, we added in optional excursions to Cincittia Film Studios, Tivoli and Villa D’Este, Ancient and Imperial tours to the Colosseum, as well as a Renaissance walking tour of Rome to see sights such as the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain.

Dinner in Navona Square and an elegant Black Tie, taster menu Awards Dinner in the infamous “Ritz Ballroom”, at the St Regis Hotel provided the backdrop for the evening functions.

But that is not all, we created a Vintage “Alfa Romeo Spider” Car Rally where guests were offered the opportunity to self-drive a Vintage Spider through the streets of Rome and on to Lake Bracciano for a private tour of Castello Odescalchi and then on to lunch on the shoreline of the lake.

We set up road marshals, had permission to close roads and had police escorts to ensure everyone felt comfortable and could enjoy this unique opportunity to the full. We were also blessed with blue skies and sunshine all day, the cars were soft top and everyone took their hoods down and drove the highlife, and the many smiles & laughter made clear that they were all “living the dream”.

The Outcome

An amazing trip with 100 very happy people and a very happy client. They all have wonderful memories of a very special week in Rome to take away and Activate Events have already been asked to confirm next year’s incentive to South Africa, so watch this space…!
